Obituary
Greg Bradley, 68, a resident of
the Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth, IL,
died at his home on November 8, 2024. He was born on
May 12, 1956, in Lincoln, to Glenn and Lela (Theobald)
Bradley. Both preceded him in death.
Greg graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked
for the State of Illinois as an engineer for many
years until his head injury in 1994. He was in a
coma for nine weeks, in the hospital for three
months and in rehabilitation for one year, but he
fought to regain his memory and mobility and
succeeded with the help and grace of his God. Greg
had a sense of humor and a very quick wit. He loved
to tease and always had a quick come back. Greg
loved being around people. He was always wanting to
get together with friends for a meal and a game of
cards. While Greg was not perfect, he was a joy and
a light to those around him.
Greg also worked with his father at The Bradley Auto
Shop in Lincoln, starting at about the age of six.
He loved going to work with his father and was able
to do body and mechanical work at a very young age.
He ran his own gun shop for years, repairing and
selling guns, and traveled extensively setting up
his booth at many different gun shows throughout
Illinois and the surrounding states. He was a member
of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.
Greg was a member, and faithful supporter of the
Texas Christian Church located near Clinton. Greg
always loved attending little country churches, and
this little church spiritually nurtured him, and
even corrected him in his walk with God. Many close,
supporting friendships were made there. Greg and his
wife, Julie, will always be grateful to God for
leading them to this little church, and for its
pastor, and members.

Down through the years, Greg has also
been a member of the Lincoln Christian Church, the
Jefferson Street Christian Church of Lincoln, and of
the Mt. Pulaski Christian Church, before moving to
Forsyth, IL, in August of 2019. Each church helped
in his spiritual growth and understanding of God’s
ways and words to the point that Greg did not fear
death but was able to look forward to being free
from discomfort, to seeing Jesus, to seeing his
heavenly home, and to seeing those who went on
before him. Even though he did want to leave his
loved ones here on this earth so soon, he knew they
would soon be joining him, and he looked forward to
that day. He said he’d be waiting for us.
Greg is survived by his wife of 19 years, Julie
Brooks Bradley, his two children, Glendon (Andrea)
of Chatham, Grant (Kelsie) of Springfield, and two
stepchildren, Rick (Kim) Ball of Dallas, GA, and
Cathy (Michael) McCubbin of Buffalo. He has two
grandchildren and twelve step-grandchildren. He is
also survived by one aunt, Mrs. Barbara Wilmert of
Lincoln.
Services for Greg will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt. Pulaski,
IL with Pastor Casey McCormick and Pastor Scott
Marsh officiating. Visitation will take place prior
to the services from 9:00-10:30 a.m. also at the
funeral home. Burial will follow the services at
Texas Township Cemetery located by the Texas
Christian Church, 8301 Texas Church Rd, Clinton, IL.
