							Six decades were spent deeply
involved with numerous organizations. Chief pastimes
were with the local Christian hunting club and coin
club. Beginning in the late 1960’s, thirteen groups
benefited from Mr. Carter’s tireless efforts. Among
these was the founding of Jefferson Street Christian
Church where he remained as an active member,
Christian Homes, Prison Ministry, and Logan Bible
Fellowship. In addition, Gerald was involved in
Gideon’s, Kiwanis, National Heart Association, Life
Underwriter’s, veteran groups, and taught a Sunday
School class. He took pride in starting and
maintaining a pet burial ground near his birthplace
in Sullivan, Illinois, along with the upkeep of
three garden lots for twenty years.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:30 AM on
Saturday, November 23, at Jefferson Street Christian
Church in Lincoln, Illinois. A memorial service will
