Jon W. Wibben, 86, of Hartsburg, IL,
passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at
Vonderlieth Living Center.
Jon was born July 26, 1938, just outside of
Hartsburg, IL, the son of Albert Wibben and Lydia
(Hellman) Wibben. He married Mary Lou Aper on
February 21, 1959, in Emden, IL., she preceded him
in death.
Jon is survived by his two daughters, Connie (Jeff)
Sherwood of Hartsburg, IL, and Kimberly (Bret) Bacon
of Lincoln, IL and one son Robin Wibben of Lincoln,
IL., his 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren;
Jim (Erica) Sherwood, JP and Palmer, Joshua (Mary
Ellen) Sherwood, AJ, Myles (Maddie) Moos, Eisley,
Kennedy, Mallory (Cody) Bacon, Reiber Wesley, Hope
Moos (Brett) Huff, Drew (Julia Page Vosburgh) Bacon,
Bennett and Mack., one brother Donald Wibben of
Lincoln, IL and two sisters-in-law Roberta (Hoffert)
Wibben and Eileen Hubbard.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife,
daughter Tammy Simpson, son-in-law, Craig Simpson,
infant grandson, Kevin Standley, one brother,
Darrell Wibben and one sister Alberta Culler.
Jon attended Hartsburg Emden High School, graduating
in 1957. He and his brother Don raced pacers and
trotters at many county fairs. Jon enjoyed attending
Car Cruzins with his ‘56 Chevy Pickup that were held
in New Holland and also loved showing it off during
3rd Friday in Lincoln.

Later Jon retired from Farm Service
after 36 years, during his time in the same location
several different companies had come and gone,
starting as Sinclair Oil and ending as FS
Fertilizer. During his summers he enjoyed taking his
trailer full of old antique engines from show to
show. Having families stop and admire his collection
always made his day, his favorite locations being
Clinton Pork and the Apple Festival. Another one of
the highlights of Jon's summer was attending the
Logan County Fair, where you could find him in the
antique tractor tent with his engines and old
tractor as well as in the stands of the horse races
with any and all family that would show up. He loved
going to the Lincoln Speedway to watch his grandson
Myles Moos wheel the 84 car around the track. Jon
often talked about the night at Spoon River where he
got to go into the winner circle with Myles to get
his picture taken. Most of all Jon loved his family,
especially watching the little ones grow and play.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday
November 23, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Hartsburg

Donations may be made in Jon’s memory to St. John’s
