Obituary

Raymond Troy Allen, 56, of Lincoln, passed away on November 22, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Raymond was born July 1, 1968, in Chula Vista, California, the son of John and Sylvia (Moreland) Allen. Raymond was united in marriage to Debra Haseley on February 8, 2020, in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, surrounded by family and friends.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Debbie; brothers and sisters, Johnny (Sherry Hudson) Allen, Randy Allen, Carrol (Richard) Delgado, Julie (Brian) Miller, Bart (Becky Holloway) Allen, Jenny Allen, and Tracy Allen; his mother-in-law, Judy Haseley; sister-in-law, Kelly Haseley; many nephews and niece; and fur-babies, Beastie, Ollie, and Mr. Chatsworth.

Raymond is preceded in death by his father, John Allen; father-in-law, Lynn Haseley; and grandparents.

Raymond worked for the California Conservation Corps which led to becoming a firefighter for Cal-Fire in northern California. Raymond sought adventure and backpacked throughout many countries. He landed for a time in New Zealand where he worked on farms and at an inn by the sea. His next stop was Australia for 8 years, where he worked in gold mines in the Western Australian outback. Raymond met the love of his life, Debbie, and his travels took him back to the states to Lincoln, Illinois.

Anyone that knew Raymond was blessed. He was a kind, caring, and giving man that never asked for anything in return. Growing up as the baby in the family with 7 brothers and sisters plus his travels, he always had a story to tell. Raymond loved to see people smile and to hear them laugh. He took pride in cooking for family and friends. Raymond was known for his Mexican cuisine. He had an uncanny knowledge of many things; you could always learn something new in a conversation with him. He had a passion for all living creatures especially snakes, spicy Mexican food, good whiskey, and the desert. He made lifelong friendships with every journey throughout his life. Most of all, Raymond cherished his wife, family, friends, and his fur-babies. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Raymond’s name to the St. Louis Hope Lodge at 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis Mo, 63108 for all of their continued support to families in their time of need. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home.
