WLB held the Honeybears scoreless in both the first and third quarters. The Lady Wolverines took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

By halftime the score was 14-5.

The Lady Wolverines were up 21-5 after the third quarter.

Each team had three points in the final quarter to set the score at 24-8.

Sage Gilbert led WLB with 11 points.

WLB’s undefeated season has been very impressive, with many of the wins coming against 3A and 4A opponents, according to head coach Brad Schneider. Nine wins have come against teams that went to State the year before, noted Schneider.

The Lady Wolverines only loss last year was to the eventual state champion in double overtime.

The team is obviously looking for a different outcome this season and by all accounts they’ve got the right pieces in place to achieve their goal.

“All the girls do very well in their offensive and defensive roles to make us successful,” said Schneider. “We are led in scoring by three girls who average double digits: Sage Gilbert, Grace Bivin and Paisley Holmes. They are a great group of girls to coach. They work hard, play extremely aggressive and are very skilled. I am really proud of them.”

The Lady Wolverines (27-0) will play the winner of the Liberty/Kinderhook Western matchup on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 for the sectional title.
