From the left is Chassidy White,
Nila Smith, Cindy Guyett, Karen Castelein and Annie
Coers. These are five of the members of the Pink
Pumpkin Auction planning committee. Members not
present for the photo include Jennifer Luckhart and
Noah Adkins.
This is the group that each year finds time in
addition to their “real jobs” to plan the Pink
Pumpkin Auction to benefit the American Cancer
Society. Planning starts at least three to four
months ahead of time and goes until one minute
before the doors open on Thursday evening.
On Tuesday one member said, “my grandma used to say
she was putting the big pot in the little pot and
stewin’ the dish rag when she was going every which
way and felt a little out of control. That’s where
we are today!”
“We want so badly to raise a significant amount for
the American Cancer Society because we know what
that organization does for our cancer warriors here
locally and all over the world.”
In spite of all this, the group also this year took
a moment to pose for a picture in their pink shirts.
Supporting breast cancer warriors and survivors is
about love and caring, and the committee wants all
those out there in battle to know that they are with
you in spirit, and are praying for the day when your
doctor says you are cancer free.
