The Lincoln Community High School boys golf team has three individuals advancing to the Class 2A Sectional tournament today in Champaign.

Seniors Brady Miller and Griffin Shaw will be joined by junior Carson Fuiten at the Sectional tournament.

Miller finished in third place and shot an 80 at the Class 2A Regional last Wednesday in Peoria at the Kellogg Golf Course.

Shaw finished in sixth place at Regionals with a score of 83.

Fuiten also shot 83 to finish right behind Shaw.

Chris Ciaccio is in his 24th year as the LCHS boys golf coach and he was very impressed with how the boys played at regionals.

“They’ve improved so much, especially in the last month,” said Ciaccio. “They all hit the ball a mile and have really improved their mental game and course management.”

“We didn’t have anyone advance last year and to have three this year is great,” Ciaccio continued. “The boys will have to play well with a score somewhere around 76 to 78 range to advance to the State tournament.”

The first tee time for the Railers is around 10:00 a.m. today at the University of Illinois Orange Course.

Other good finishes:

Tate Aue and Talon Horton each shot a 90 at regionals and freshman Henry Stoltzenburg shot a 93.

Stoltzenburg was one of just three total freshmen on the course.

Aue is a sophomore and Horton is a senior.

Fans can follow the three golfers on the IHSA App.

Congratulations, guys and best of luck today!
