Obituary

Donald Fulmer, 65, passed away on October 2, 2024, surrounded by family at his country home.

Don was born November 28, 1958, in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Norman and Betty (Karrick) Fulmer of Atlanta, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Patricia “Sis” Helton, on April 5, 1980; she survives.

Don leaves behind his devoted children, Beth (Jason) Steffens, Jason (Whitney) Fulmer, and a special nephew, Pete (Kristen) Helton. “Poppy” adored his five grandchildren, Abigail & Alex Steffens and Braelynn, Declynn, & Lennox Fulmer. Don is also survived by his twin brother, Ronnie (Shellie) Fulmer; and other siblings, Donna Barry, Chris (Rick) Miller, Rebecca Leon, Richard (Debbie) Denny, Jean (Allen) Tadlock, Annie Helton, Kim Hall, and LT Helton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dale Denny; and three sisters, Joanne Steffens, Dixie Doty, and Linda Brown.

Don loved spending time at the “farm” with Sis, the kids, and his dogs, Daisy and Ruger, more than anything else; even when the grandkids got a little too loud and crazy. He was an avid boater, gardener, hunter, and grill master, who made the best steaks. He shared his love for the outdoors with his family including many surviving nieces and nephews by hunting in the winter and fishing in the summer. To know Don was to love and appreciate him. He was a dedicated husband, dad, and Poppy who will be missed more than words can express. But comfort is found knowing he is in Heaven throwing sticks for his beloved dog, Jazz.

An open house to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Jefferson Street Christian Church at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Michael Mallick will officiate a service beginning at 4 p.m.

Memorials may be made in Don’s name to Jefferson Street Christian Church.
