[October 08, 2024]  LINCOLN - Vernon Lee Shehorn, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Timber Creek Assisted Living Facility.

Visitation:  10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home

Obituary

Vernon Lee Shehorn, 88, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Timber Creek Assisted Living Facility.

Vernon was born June 15, 1936, in Lincoln, the son of Homer C. and Dorothy (Evans) Shehorn. He married Sharon Lee Rohlfs on April 4,1959. They celebrated 65 years together.

Vernon is survived by his wife, and numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by their daughter, Jennifer Marie Beltz; his parents; one sister; and six brothers.

Vernon was a member of Lincoln Christian Church. He worked as a heavy equipment operator doing mainly road work.

Vernon was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and he enjoyed woodworking in his shop. He also spent time visiting with his buddies and playing with his little great-great nephews and nieces.

Vernon served in the US Army from September 9, 1959, to September 8, 1961. He was a lifetime member of Operating Engineers Local 965 out of Springfield.

Funeral services for Vernon will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will take place one hour prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made in Vernon’s name to Lincoln Christian Church or The American Diabetes Association.
