Obituary
Inez Mae Mitchell, 89, of Lincoln,
was called to her final home on Tuesday, October 8,
2024, at her home.
Inez was born February 12, 1935, in Springfield, the
eighth child of Joseph and Anna (Thomas) Harbauer.
She married George Middleton Mitchell, the love of
her life, on June 12, 1955, in Springfield. He
preceded her in death in 2016. They moved their
family to Lincoln in 1971.
Inez is survived by her children, Mary (Tymeri)
Mitchell, Laura (Joseph) Brewer, and George (Gail)
Mitchell; ten grandchildren; and ten
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George;
parents; son, Stephen Mitchell; and her siblings,
Dorothy, Joe, Nonie, Robert, Loretta, Walter, and
Mary.
Inez was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in
Lincoln, where she was a founding member of the Holy
Family Soup Kitchen and First Sunday Dinners. She
volunteered time to help with the winter coat &
blanket drives, parish garage sales, and the Holy
Family Food Pantry. She was a long-time hospice
volunteer as well as a member of the Red Hat
Society. |
A memorial mass for Inez will be held
at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Lincoln. Visitation will
take place one hour prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
also at the church. A burial at Holy Cross will take
place at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Inez’s name to Holy Family
Food Pantry or the Red Cross Hurricane Relief.
Cremation rites have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
