Obituary
Valerie Vancil, 72, of Decatur,
passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at her
home.
Valerie was born on September 27, 1952, in Streator,
the daughter of Eugene and Betty (Miller) Kusnerik.
She married Whalen Vancil on October 21, 2000, in
Decatur.
Valerie is survived by her husband, Whalen and her
sister, Leslie (Larry) Parkin of Monroe, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Valerie enjoyed spending time with her family,
reading, and her German Shepherds.

A memorial mass for Valerie will be
held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024,
at Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
Visitation will take place one hour prior, from 9:30
a.m. to 10:30 a.m. also at the church.
Burial will follow the mass at Graceland Cemetery in
Decatur.
Memorials may be made in Valerie’s name to Holy
Family Catholic Church in Decatur.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
