Obituary
Dorothy Mae Hunter, 84, of
Lincoln, passed away October5, 2024 at her home.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry
& Bennett Funeral Home. A celebration of life will
be held at Open Arms Church on October 19th at 3
p.m.
Dorothy was born February 20, 1940, in Bloomington,
the daughter of Donald Whiteside and Marie( Hardin)
Whiteside. She married Robert Hunter on April 6,
1958. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She attended school in Bloomington and graduated
from Normal Community High School in 1958. She then
moved to Mason City in 1960. Dorothy loved her
family and her cats. She worked at Mason City
Nursing Home and Vantine’s Cafe, the Lincoln Garment
factory, and was a foster grandparent. She also
worked with the Girl Scouts for several years.

Survivors include her children, Connie Turley( Kevin), Roger
Hunter (Daisy), Martha Ellsberry(Randy) and Byron Hunter(Jessica).
Grandchildren, Jody, Miley, Michelle, Crystal, and Breann; great grandchildren,
Selena, Allison, Joey, Travis and Lexie, sister, Pat Linton, brother, Raymond
Whiteside, brother, Arthur Whiteside, and brother Robbie Whiteside.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Melvin, and
her sister Carrie.
Memorial donations may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
