Obituary
Phil L. Mahler, 77 of Lincoln passed
away on Saturday , October 12, 2024 at the
Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
A Memorial Mass for Phil will be held on Thursday,
October 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family
Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Dondanville
officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening October
16, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy
Family Catholic Church in Lincoln.
A Rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the
church prior to the visitation.
Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery.
Philip L. Mahler was born on May 2, 1947 in Lincoln
the son of Paul Richard and LaDonna Jean Ryan
Mahler. He was united in marriage to Linda Ann
Hausknecht in Germany on April 2, 1971 She preceded
him in death on September 14, 2022.
He is survived by his mother: LaDonna J. Mahler, his
children: Erica (Eric) Meiners, Andrea (Robert)
Evers, Emily (Jackie Schneller) Mahler. Two sisters:
Paula (Thomas) Hoeferlin, Julie (Steve) Johnson. One
brother: Kurt (Ellen) Mahler. Five grandchildren:
Katherine Boss, Zachary Boss, Jameson Evers, Brenden
Evers and Lucas Schneller- Mahler. Brother-in-law:
Mike Auer and sisters-in-laws: Josephine Bintz and
Angie Mahler.

He was preceded in death by his wife,
father one sister: Rene A. Auer and one brother:
Douglas A. Mahler.
Phil graduated from Lincoln Community High School in
1965 and then graduated from Murray State University
in Kentucky. He served in the United States Army in
Germany where he met the love of his life Linda
Hausknecht Mahler.
He retired as a Prudential Life
Insurance Agent after 30 years. Phil also served as
Logan County Regional Planner and served on the
Logan County Board.
Phil is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus Council #1250 where he served as
Grand Knight. He is a member of the Atlanta Rotary
where he is serving as the treasurer.
His hobbies include fishing, golfing, traveling with
his family and watching all sporting events.
Memorials may be made to the Carrol Catholic School,
Knights of Columbus #1250 or the Atlanta Rotary
Club.
