To the editor: GFWC Lincoln
Woman’s Club observed GFWC’s National Day of Service by hosting a
food drive at their building on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
They asked the community to donate items to be
given to local food pantries.
They received more than 450 items along with
monetary donations.
They would like to thank all who stopped by to
help us combat food insecurity. We would also like to thank our
Corporate sponsors: Graue Chevrolet , Debbie’s Downtown Floral,
Family Custom Cleaners, Joyce Board, Lincoln IGA, Logan Lanes, and
ME Realty. We would also like to thank Ruth Sloot for creating our
poster/flyer. The items collected were all donated to four local
food pantries.
There are 34 million people in the U.S. who lack
access to an adequate food supply to fulfill their basic needs.
Among them, 9 million children are facing hunger. Fifty-three
million people resorted to food banks after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even more alarming: EVERY county in the U.S. has families grappling
with food insecurity. Thank you, Lincoln, for standing with us as we
battle food insecurity.
Sincerely,
Lincoln Woman's Club
