Lincoln Daily News
welcomes letters of appreciation, information and
opinion on matters pertaining to the community.
Controversial issues:
As a
community we need to be able to talk openly about
matters that affect the quality of our lives. The
most effective and least offensive manner to get
your point across is to stick to the issue
and refrain from commenting on another person's
opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the
issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor: These pictures are almost a decade
old.
It’s been almost ten years since my son, Jacob
Bowersock, committed Suicide at the age of 16. With the recent loss
of another life in this brutal way, I wanted to just take another
moment to refresh everyone on the 988 hotline for mental health
crisis.
There is no rhyme or reason and typically not a ton of signs prior
to this type of loss…. But we need to prepare ourselves, our
children and our community on all the resources available when faced
with a mental health crisis for ourselves or someone we know.
[to top of second column in this letter] |
Let’s make sure we are also being supportive, loving
and kind to those around us. Our world is a hot mess and dealing
with every day stresses can at times be too much.
988…… simple number! Save it in your phone, your kids’ phone, post
it at your place of work, your local community bulletin boards…..
anywhere and everywhere!
Jacob had dreams, but his mental health crisis had a terminal
ending. Let’s continue to be his voice!!!
