William
E. Walter, Building Restoration Consultant, known for building
restoration both in the U.S. and internationally, will lead dinner
guests through the expanded renovation and repairs of the Logan County
Courthouse, located in downtown Lincoln, Illinois. Walter has used his
specialized services for industrial, commercial, military, and
institutional facilities.
The event will be held at Elkhart at the Horsefeathers Café, located in
downtown Elkhart, with doors opening at 5:00 and dinner at 5:30 p.m.,
September 20, 2024.
The Logan County Courthouse was built in 1905, and was sculpted from
Amherst/Berea Ohio and locally quarried sandstone. Realizing the urgent
need for renovation, a sales tax referendum of 0.5% was passed in March,
2020, providing the funding for a substantial overhaul of the county
facility.
William Walter will discuss the many steps and stages
needed to bring the very best possible restoration and masonry
preservation techniques to this project.
Walter was owner and operator of Walter Associates from 1974 to 2009. He
is owner and operator of Eagle Scaffold Consultants, from 2004 until
present, specializing in repair services and certification for
suspension scaffolding on high rise buildings, including the
implementation of codes for high rise buildings suspension and hoist
equipment.
