Fall Farm Day at Gail’s very well attended by the community

[September 19, 2024]    Sunday was fall farm day at Gail’s Pumpkin Patch in Beason. Families and friends gathered together and had a good time. Even though weather was pretty warm, it did not keep kids and parents from engaging in the many outdoor activities on offer.

There were a couple of playgrounds for kids to play on with swings and slides. Several animals, such as goats, chickens, kittens, and a bunny named Brownie were around for people to see. The Barrel Train was operating, with kids getting pulled by a tractor in converted plastic barrels with wheels attached. There was a tug-o-war station set up, and a ‘trike for all ages” course.

Live music was being played by Lincoln native Jeff Cordes. In between excellently performed songs, Cordes would occasionally remind people that the Popcorn Wagon was giving free rides for the day. The wagon would take anyone who felt inclined to ride in it around the pumpkin field and out into the cornfields a bit before taking them back to the festivities.

For anyone looking to cool off, apple cider slushies were being sold inside the barn. Gail’s was also selling a caramel apple sundae. While one might have been expecting ice cream, they might have been surprised to see there was no ice cream, rather a fresh sliced apple.

This apple was drizzled in a generous helping of caramel sauce with optional chopped pecans on top. Fresh apples were also on sale in the barn, along with a plethora of fall decorations and other snacks.

If you were not able to make it to the fall farm day, don’t fret. Gail’s will be open during normal business hours until the end of the season (October 31st). Normal business hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday-Monday and Wednesday-Friday, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Gail’s is closed on Tuesdays.
