Obituary
Paul E. Heins, 98, of Lincoln,
passed away September 24, 2024, at St. Clara’s Manor
with his family by his side.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday,
October 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church. Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark
Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Zion
Cemetery. Holland Barry & Bennett funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Paul was born July 29, 1926, in Lincoln, the son of
John Heins and Sophia (Filter) Heins. He married
Doris Jean (Belcher) on September 9, 1961. She
preceded him in death on July 22, 2020. Paul proudly
served his country in the United States Navy during
WWII, where he served as a cook. He was employed by
American Water and then Commonwealth Edison for many
years. Ater retirement, he worked for Holland and
Barry Funeral Home and eventually Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home for several years. Paul was
fascinated by trains and collected train
memorabilia. |
He was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church, American Legion Post 263, and the G.M.& O.
Historical Society.
Survivors include special friends
who became family Mike and Kathy Martinie, their
daughter Mia (Eric) Wells and her children, who were
his grandchildren Daxton, Huxlan, and Loxli; and
special nieces Charlene Lessen, Nancy Weimer, and
Judy Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife,
and his brothers Walter Heins, Carl Heins, and
Arnold Heins.
Memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran
Church or to American Legion Post 263.
