Parker Campbell and Mallory Short had a great
day on Saturday at the 2025 Illinois Top Times Indoor Track &
Field Classic at Illinois Wesleyan University.
This meet is often considered the indoor State meet in Illinois
and LCHS athletes have had great success competing here in the
past.
Saturday was no exception as Parker Campbell finished second in
the 60m hurdles and Mallory Short finished 13th in the 400m.
According to LCHS Railsplitter Track and Field coach Jenna
Crombie, “Parker ran against the fastest 60 meter hurdler in the
state and ended up narrowly finishing second with a PR of
:08.07, just .08 seconds behind Arion Hill from Centralia.
Parker ran :08.18 in the preliminaries, winning his heat by
almost a half a second.”
“Mallory finished her indoor season with a PR of 1:01.59 in the
400m to finish 13th,” said Crombie. “She was ranked 18th going
into the meet and only 1.5 seconds separated 5th through 15th
place. She competed with a lot of confidence and is very excited
for the outdoor season, and to run her newest event - the 300m
hurdles.”
The Railsplitter Track and Field team will have three home meets
this season:
Girls home meet on April 14
Coed Senior Night meet on May 7
Boys home meet on May 13.
All meets will start at 4:30 p.m.
“I hope our community can come out to support this talented
team,” said Crombie. [Teena Lowery]
