Mount Pulaski turned the 2-0 lead into 4-0 in
the fourth inning. Eric Cooper’s double to center scored two
runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning the Indians cut the lead in
half, 4-2 the score.
Three walks in the bottom of the fifth inning helped the Indians
to another run.
The four Mount Pulaski runs in the seventh inning were courtesy
of three walks, two errors, a wild pitch and two doubles. Chance
Payne and Aaron Volle provided the extra-base hits and the
Hilltoppers rounded the bases to add to the lead.
The Indians got a baserunner on in the seventh inning, but with
two outs that runner was picked off second base and Mount
Pulaski took the win home.
The only thing better than a win in Pontiac is a win in Pontiac
followed by a stop at Wally’s!
Mount Pulaski used four pitchers in the game.
Aaron Volle earned the win for his four innings of work. He
allowed one hit and two runs. He walked one and struck out four
batters.
Jaeden Jackson worked one-third of an inning. He allowed one
run.
Luke Martin worked one and two-thirds of an inning. He struck
out three batters.
Liam Smith worked an inning, striking out one batter.
Chance Payne and Aaron Volle led the Mount Pulaski offense.
Payne was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Volle was 2-for-3 with two runs driven in and one run scored.
Eric Cooper, Preston Cowan and Carter Clark each had one hit.
Mount Pulaski is now 2-2 on the season.
Last Friday the Hilltoppers lost 11-1 to Williamsville.
