Wurth struck out eleven batters over seven
innings. She allowed three hits and two runs, but only one run
was earned. She did not allow a walk.
The Crimson started the game with a lead-off double off Wurth.
It was the only hit in the inning but the Crimson would score
the first run on a fielder’s choice.
Lincoln evened the score in the bottom of the second inning with
Morgan Sheley getting a hit, advancing on two stolen bases and
scoring on a ground out.
In the top of the fifth inning Jacksonville took a 2-1 lead on
an error and a single.
Jacksonville returned the favor in the bottom of the inning by
committing two errors. Lily Holmes tied the game on a sacrifice
bunt and the Railsplitters took the lead on a wild pitch.
That was enough offense as Wurth and her teammates were able to
retire the Crimson with little trouble the rest of the way.
Each team had three hits with Regan Kutz, Morgan Sheley and
Kelsey Marten each getting base hits for Lincoln.
The Railsplitters have won three games in a row and improved
their record to 5-3 on the season.
