| Clark was tossing a shutout until the final 
				inning. 
 Mount Pulaski scored a run in the second inning on an RBI single 
				by Jaeden Jackson, giving Clark and company a 1-0 lead.
 
 The Hilltoppers scored three more runs in the third inning.
 
 Two singles, a walk and a double kept the Hilltoppers busy on 
				the base paths. Volle’s single drove in a run and Clark’s double 
				also scored a run. Liam Smith, who had singled earlier in the 
				inning, stole home to score a run for the Hilltoppers.
 
 Mount Pulaski led 4-0 heading into the fourth inning.
 
 Eric Cooper and Chance Payne tacked on runs in the fifth inning 
				for Mount Pulaski. Each of them had RBI doubles that kept Mount 
				Pulaski in the lead.
 
 Clark and Payne were about to cause more damage in the top of 
				the sixth inning. This time the boys smacked RBI singles to 
				bring the Mount Pulaski lead to 8-0.
 
 Clark, who pitched a complete game, was holding on to a shutout 
				until the last inning. A lead-off double, followed by a walk 
				started the Knights rally. Lucky for Clark only two runs scored 
				and the Mount Pulaski defense turned a double play to end the 
				game with the score 8-2.
 
 Carter Clark pitched a great ballgame, allowing two runs and 
				five hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out six. 
				He faced 26 batters while picking up the win.
 
 While Volle’s performance stood out, a number of other players 
				had great offensive moments.
 
 Chance Payne, Carter Clark, Preston Cowan and Tyler Cross 
				recorded multi-hits.
 
 Eric Cooper, Liam Smith and Jaeden Jackson each contributed one 
				hit, bringing the Mount Pulaski total to 14 hits.
 
 Mount Pulaski improved their record to 4-2 on the season.
 
 The Hilltoppers will take on PORTA tonight in Petersburg at 4:30 
				p.m.
