The Hilltoppers winning streak continued as the
team won their fourth game in a row on Wednesday in Petersburg.
Chance Payne hit a two-run home run in the top of the third
inning, putting Mount Pulaski in front 2-1.
Mount Pulaski plated four runs in the top of the fifth inning,
extending the lead to 6-1. Luke Martin did the most damage with
a two-run single to center.
The Hilltoppers scored a run in the top of the sixth inning on a
wild pitch.
The Blue Jays threatened with three runs in the bottom of the
sixth inning, but Mount Pulaski was able to hang on for the 7-5
win.
Aaron Volle earned the win for Mount Pulaski. He worked five and
one-third innings, allowing nine hits and five runs. He walked
two and struck out three.
Jaeden Jackson worked one and two-thirds innings, walking one
and striking out one. He earned the save.
The Hilltoppers had eight hits in the game.
Eric Cooper, Liam Smith, Chance Payne, Aaron Volle, Luke Martin,
Preston Cowan, Tyler Cross and Chase Roberts each had a hit for
Mount Pulaski.
Mount Pulaski improved to 5-2 on the season. |
