Obituary
Ronald “Ron” Fitchhorn passed away
April 5, 2025 in Normal, IL. He was born Sept 1,
1942, one of two children of Ruth and Paul Fitchhorn.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister and
brother-in-law Carol & Milton Tarbox, and nephew
Greg Tarbox. Ron married Yvonne Hopkins Sept 12,
1963. They have two sons, Mike and Randy Fitchhorn.
Ron is survived by his wife, sons, 4 grandchildren,
8 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild,
and one nephew.
Our dad, Ron, was known for his inquisitive mind and
infectious laugh. He had a love for reading, history
and agriculture. He never met a stranger and always
found people to talk to. When he traveled he was
always able to find the “farmers table” in local
restaurants and would usually end up sitting and
talking to whoever was there.
Ron was involved in many groups locally, state-wide,
and nationally. We could spend a lot of time listing
them all but he was not one to really worry about
where he served but that he served with a passion in
all he did. We as his family, know only some of the
many things he did and ask that you remember Ron for
the effect he had in your life either publicly or
privately. We invite you to come to his Celebration
of Life and share your memories with us.
Faith was always an important part of
his life. Since his retirement and especially in the
last few years of his life he grew in that faith. He
sought a deeper knowledge and understanding of God.
As a man of God he sought to show Jesus to all he
interacted with. In all things he asked the
question, “How would Jesus handle this?”.

Please come and celebrate Ron -
husband, dad, uncle, cousin, grandfather and friend
on Saturday April 12 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, at
Heyworth Christian Church. The last 1/2 hour of the
celebration will be a prayer service in Ron’s
memory. The celebration/visitation will be a time of
memories, fellowship and sharing with the people who
knew and were affected by him. While we will miss
Ron, we also want to remember who he was and the
reward he has found with God.
In lieu of flowers, our family asks that you plant
flowers in his memory or donate to either the Mt
Hope/Funks Grove Fire Department or Heyworth
Christian Church.
We especially want to thank those at The Arc for
their encouraging, tender and loving care.
Ron was cremated and a private burial will take
place at a later date.
Quiram Peasley Funeral Home is assisting the family
with arrangements.
