Mount Pulaski defeats Delavan 5-3

[April 12, 2025]  Make that five wins in a row for the Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers, who defeated Delavan 5-3 on Thursday.
 
Luke Martin was the winning pitcher for Mount Pulaski. Martin tossed six innings, allowing four hits and three runs. He struck out six and walked three. 

 

Liam Smith earned the save. He worked an inning, striking out one and walking one.

Aaron Volle continues to swing a hot bat. His RBI single in the first inning gave Mount Pulaski their first run of the game.

The Hilltoppers scored three runs in the second inning. Preston Cowan’s RBI groundout produced one run. Eric Cooper and Liam Smith added RBI singles to make the score 4-0.

The Panthers scored all of their runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Mount Pulaski added an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning when Cooper scored on a balk.

The Panthers got a baserunner on in each of the final two innings but the Hilltoppers were able to get out of any potential jam and walk away with the 5-3 win.

Mount Pulaski outhit the Panthers 5-4.

Eric Cooper, Liam Smith, Chance Payne, Aaron Volle and Tyler Cross each had a hit for the Hilltoppers.

Mount Pulaski improved their record to 6-2 on the season.
