The story in game one was a terrific pitching
performance by Carson Fuiten supported by RBI doubles from
Griffin Shaw and Drew Hayes.
Fuiten faced 30 batters over seven innings. He allowed six hits
and two unearned runs while picking up the win. Fuiten walked
three batters and struck out two.
Griffin Shaw’s RBI double in the second inning put the
Railsplitters up 1-0. Lincoln scored a second run in the inning
on a fielder’s choice.
With the ballgame tied 2-2 in the third inning, Drew Hayes broke
the tie with an RBI double to left.
Lincoln was outhit 6-2 but where it counted Lincoln beat Prairie
Central 3-2.
The highlights of game two featured the Komnick brothers.
Kane Komnick pitched a great ballgame for the Railsplitters,
tossing a shutout in seven innings for his first Varsity win. He
allowed six hits and recorded six strikeouts. He walked three
batters and faced a total of 28 Hawks.
Kane’s brother and battery mate, Karson, smacked a two-run
single to center in the sixth inning, putting the Railsplitters
in front 3-0 at the time. After a fielder’s choice by Owen
Comstock to plate another run, Kane helped himself with an RBI
single to set the score at 5-0.
Kane allowed a single in the top of the seventh but with three
ground outs in the inning, Lincoln was able to put a win in the
books.
Drew Hayes led Lincoln with two hits, including an RBI single in
the bottom of the third inning that put Lincoln in the scoring
column.
Ashton Corley, Griffin Shaw, Karson Komnick and Kane Komnick
each had a hit apiece.
Lincoln improved their record to 5-9 on the season.
