The Springfield Senators had a couple big
innings against Lincoln on Tuesday night and that was enough for
the visitors to earn a 7-4 win at Schweitzer Field.
After giving up a first inning run to the Senators on an error,
Lincoln bounced back in the bottom half of the inning to plate
three runs. An RBI triple by Regan Kutz tied the game while a
fielder’s choice by Kelsey Marten and a ground out by Kate
Farnam plated two more runs, giving Lincoln a 3-1 edge.
The Senators were able to score three runs in the top of the
third inning and three more in the top of the fourth inning.
Kutz’s double in the third inning led to Lincoln’s fourth and
final run scored.
Lincoln only managed one more baserunner the rest of the game
and that was due to a walk.
Madisen Wurth started the game for Lincoln, working six innings,
giving up six hits and four runs. She walked one and struck out
five.
Regan Kutz worked an inning, giving up three hits and three
runs. She walked two and struck out one.
Kutz had two of Lincoln’s five hits off the Senators. She was
2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run driven in.
Mia Volpert earned the win for Springfield. She pitched a
complete game, striking out 12 Railsplitters and only walking
one.
