Pioneers take down Railsplitters
11-4

The Normal University High Pioneers put together some big
late innings on Wednesday afternoon at Mike Curry Field and defeated
Lincoln 11-4.
The Railsplitters scored two runs in each of the first two innings
against the Pioneers.
In the bottom of the first inning, Drew Hayes and Griffin Shaw each
drove in runs.
In the bottom of the second inning, Ashton Corley drove in a run on
a single and Kyle Koehler scored on a passed ball.
Jaedyn Gulley and Karson Komnick were the only two Railsplitters to
have hits beyond the second inning.

The Pioneers took over the lead in the fourth inning after scoring
three runs.
Lincoln’s 4-2 lead in the fourth inning disappeared when a walk, a
single and a sacrifice bunt scored a run and then Deegan Aeilts
followed that up with a two-run double to center to put the Pioneers
up 5-4.
The Pioneers added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning and
then four more runs to seal the win in the top of the sixth inning.
Aeilts led off the top of the sixth inning with a triple for the
Pioneers and he scored on a single. The Pioneers added another
triple, a double and a single in the inning to eventually reach the
final score of 11-4.
Deegan Aeilts led the Pioneers at the plate. He was 3-for-4 with two
runs scored and two RBIs. He also stole two bases.

Caleb Hornbrook was 3-for-3 for U-High, batting in two runs and
scoring twice.
Mehn was the winning pitcher for U-High. He worked six innings,
striking out five batters and giving up four hits.
Lincoln had six hits versus Pioneers pitching.
Austin Lucas led Lincoln with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.
Ashton Corley, Jaedyn Gulley, Griffin Shaw and Karson Komnick each
had one hit.
Carson Fuiten took the loss for Lincoln. He worked five innings,
giving up ten runs and ten hits. He walked two and struck out two.
Austin Lucas pitched two innings in relief. He allowed two hits and
one run.
Lincoln falls to 6-12 on the season.
