Rochester rallies to beat Lincoln
7-5

The Rochester Rockets hit a two-run homer in extra innings to
beat Lincoln 7-5 Friday night at Schweitzer Field.
The Railers were off to a great start in the bottom of the third
inning, scoring three runs. Grey Gilbert and Morgan Sheley hit
back-to-back singles to start the inning. They each advanced on a
wild pitch, with Gilbert eventually scoring on a sacrifice fly by
Regan Kutz. Kate Farnam and Laurynn Mayberry added RBI singles to
give Lincoln a 3-0 lead.
The Rockets scored a run in the top of the third inning on three
consecutive singles.
The Rockets smacked five singles in the top of the fifth inning.
That burst of offense led to three runs and a 4-3 lead over Lincoln.
A double and a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning
added insurance for the Rockets as they went up 5-3.
The Railers rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh
inning. With two outs, Gilbert walked, Sheley singled and Madisen
Wurth doubled to center, tying the game 5-5.
In the top of the eighth inning, the Rockets led off with a single
and two outs later Brooklyn Thompson hit a home run to center to
break the tie.
Lincoln threatened in the bottom of the eighth inning when Norah
Block and Addy Mahler each doubled with one out. Lincoln was unable
to score, with a pop out and a strikeout ending the game.
Regan Kutz suffered the loss for Lincoln. She worked three and
one-third innings in relief. She allowed eight hits and five runs.
She walked one and struck out two.

Madisen Wurth started the game for Lincoln. She worked four and
two-thirds innings. She allowed nine hits and two runs. She walked
one and struck out seven.
Mylie Deatherage earned the win for Rochester. She threw seven and
two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and five runs. She struck
out four and walked three.
Lincoln was led at the plate by their lead-off hitter, Grey Gilbert.
She was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Morgan Sheley, Madisen Wurth, Kelsey Marten, Norah Block and Addy
Mahler each had one hit.

The Rockets had 17 hits in the game. Jaelyn Watts and Brooklyn
Thompson each had four hits.
Lincoln falls to 9-10 on the season.
Rochester improves to 14-3 on the season.
Lincoln will play at Washington tonight at 6:00 p.m.
