			 On Wednesday, July 30th, a 4-H goat
show was hosted at the Logan County Fair. This show was held in the
Livestock Show Barn starting at 2:00 p.m. The rain from earlier in
the day cut through some of the heat, making it a little bit more
bearable by the start of the show. Many people came to watch the
young people who entered the show present their goats. There were
several entrants, each showing off goats of different colors and
			sizes.

			Judge Cody Zeeck took the
microphone between judging and talked to the kids and audience about
the goats on display and the things he liked, as well as what could
be better, about each one. Zeeck was very encouraging to the kids,
making sure not to discourage the kids about their animals.

When Zeeck was not talking, he was
walking around and inspecting the goats the kids were presenting. He
took his time looking over each of the animals, viewing them both
from a distance as well as inspecting them up close.

Other times, Zeeck would have each
competitor walk their goat around the barn. The kids would do this,
walking in a line. The line would occasionally get backed up, as a
goat would become resistant and try to stop walking. Whenever this
would happen, the kids would patiently wait as the owner of the goat
got them moving again. Even when this occurred several times to the
same kids, they were very professional, doing what they needed to do
to get the goats moving and not showing any outward signs of
			frustration.

As each class came up, Zeeck would
select winners for each, explaining the reasoning behind his choice.
In some cases, this was easy, as there was only a single entry. In
other classes, there were up to seven goats to choose from.
