Holland, Eller, Petrukovich, and
Mackey victorious during Logan County Fair Night of Thunder at Lincoln
Speedway
[August 05, 2025]
LINCOLN, IL (August 1, 2025) — It was a night to remember at
Lincoln Speedway as racing returned to the Logan County Fair for the
first time since 2018, and fans were treated to a thrilling evening
of DIRTcar racing, fair food, rides, and live post-race
entertainment. A packed grandstand and full fairgrounds crowd
witnessed a strong field of competitors across four exciting
divisions — DIRTcar Modifieds, Sportsman, Crown Vics, and Hornets —
at the 1/4-mile dirt oval.
The DIRTcar Modifieds headlined the event with a loaded 21-car field
featuring top talent from across the Midwest. Clinton, IL’s Collin
Alexander started from the pole and led the majority of the 20-lap
main event. But in the closing laps, Chase Holland, the Success, MS
standout, made his move and surged to the front to claim his second
Lincoln Speedway win of 2025. The battle behind was fierce with a
trio of Modified aces: Kelly Kovski, Summit Modified Nationals point
runner-up Trevor Neville, and 2024 Summit Modified Nationals
champion Mike McKinney. The final top five featured Holland, Kovski,
Alexander, Neville, and McKinney.
In DIRTcar Sportsman action, Taylorville, IL’s Colby Eller continued
his strong season by jumping to the lead early and fending off all
challengers to collect his second win of the year. Mitchell, IN’s
Lee Hobbs took runner-up honors followed by Tim Reich, Justin
Crowell, and Gaeb Novak to complete a competitive top five.

The 15-lap Crown Vic feature saw Crest Hill, IL driver Ryan
Petrukovich put together a dominant performance. After winning his
heat race with ease, Petrukovich backed it up with a flag-to-flag
feature victory — his first career win at Lincoln Speedway.
Springfield, IL’s Shane McDermith had a strong showing in second,
while current point leader Aidan Crowell finished third. Adam Thibo
and Alex Hatfield rounded out the top five.
The final race of the night featured the DIRTcar Hornets with 16
cars taking the green. Delavan, IL’s Matt Mackey, who came up just
short in June’s Hornet Challenge, would not be denied this time.
Mackey controlled the race from the drop of the green and earned his
first feature win of the season at Lincoln. He was followed by David
Lauritson, Cole Reed, Matthew Mackey, Jr., and Spencer Coats.
The return of fair week racing was a huge success — from the strong
car count and great racing to the family atmosphere, food stands,
kids rides, and post-race fun in the beer garden, fans were treated
to an unforgettable evening at the Logan County Fairgrounds.
