[August 12, 2025]  MASON CITY — Wendell Odell Dixon, 86, of Mason City passed away at 4:48 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Lodge in Manito.

Visitation: Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Hurely Funeral Home in Mason City, IL.

Service: Saturday, August 16, 2025 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary

Wendell Odell Dixon, 86, of Mason City passed away at 4:48 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Lodge in Manito. He was born on June 15, 1939 in Greenburg, KY., to Bonnie Walton and Helen Marie (Irvin) Dixon. On May 16, 1958 he married Margaret Ann Thomas she preceded him in death in 1991.

Wendell is survived by 4 children: Russell Dixon, Brenda (Rick) Harvey, Rod (Kelly) Dixon all of Mason City and Ron (Lisa) Dixon of Normal, 10 grandchildren: Shannon Simmering of Mason City, Steve and Heather Kidd of Riverton, Terra Harvey of Mason City, Chris and Morgan Ingram of Pekin, Craig Ingram of Petersburg, Skylar Dixon of Normal, Rylee Dixon of Normal, Sarah Clipper of Palmyra, Chris and Rachel Richardson of Mason City, Ryan Dixon of Mason City, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 siblings: Marie (Don) Price of Springfield and Wayne (Julie) Dixon of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers: Walt Dixon and Glen Dixon.

He retired from Caterpillar after 30 years and went on to work for Ainsworth Seed Company. He was a member of the Mason City Community Chapel. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, motorcycle riding and bank poling with his family.

A funeral service is planned for Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 12:00 PM with pastor Brian Durbin officiating, burial to follow at Mason City Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours before the service from 10:00 AM until the service at 12:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mason City Community Chapel. Online condolences can be left at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.
