Thanksgiving Business Spotlight: Little Barn Boutique

[December 06, 2025]  The Saturday Business Spotlight this week is zeroing in on Little Barn Boutique and its owner Jessica Goodman.

The business is located at 1103 Fifth Street in Lincoln, in the location of the former Forget me Knot Floral, across the street from Casey’s.

Jessica opened Little Barn Boutique in June of 2024 after purchasing remaining inventory and fixtures from Cindy’s Cottage on Woodlawn Road when it closed. She currently has five employees that help out at various times throughout the week.

Jessica invited all of the former vendors from Cindy’s Cottage to join her at the new business. There are currently 40 vendors that sell their products at Little Barn. Some of the vendors are local to Lincoln and Central Illinois.

The boutique offers jewelry, wood carvings, beach glass design, floral arrangements, home décor, fragrance for both home and body, candles, and several beauty products, such as soaps, and bath bombs.

Jessica has an extensive selection of boutique clothing in a variety of sizes and styles. She carries Mudpie infant and children’s wear, Vervet and Lovervet jeans for women and extended size options as well. Little Barn has a great selection of accessories that includes bags, shoes, belts, and much more.

The two biggest sellers at the moment are the Drizzle soy melts that come in a variety of fragrances and the kitchen items, especially the Euroscrubby and the Swedish Dishcloth.

When asked what she would say to people thinking about starting a small business she responded, “ I feel so new at being a business owner so I don’t feel like I can give any advice.”

Goodman very much enjoys being a business owner in Lincoln and said, “It comes down to our customers. We have the most amazing customers, and some are like family to us. We chitchat about all the things with our families, we laugh, and shop at the same time. I love it when ladies come in and try on clothes they never would have tried on without a nudge and (they) feel so good about themselves.

“My other favorite thing is when someone finds a perfect gift and they are just thrilled to be able to give it to their friend or family.”

Little Barn is open Wednesday through Saturday with varying hours on each day: Wednesday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is closed Sunday through Tuesday.
