Obituary
Mary C. Kennedy, 100,
of Peoria, formerly of Lincoln, IL, passed away at
the Farmington Village Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center on December 3, 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday,
December 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, 107 N. Richard Pryor Place, Peoria,
IL. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30
p.m. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in
Lincoln.
Mary Celestine Kennedy was born on January 13, 1925,
in Henry, IL, the daughter of Frank and Nellie
Harrington Kennedy.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate
family. She was preceded in death by her parents and
four sisters: Mildred Haun, Margaret Newton, Lillian
Fogerty, and Catherine Suman.
Mary was employed at OSF Saint Francis Medical
Center in Peoria for 33 years. She had an excellent
work ethic and missed only three days during her
employment there. |
She was a member of
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peoria. Her name at
confirmation was Teresa.
Her hobbies included listening to church music and
nature songs. With her witty sense of humor, she
enjoyed giving men a hard time. Over the years she
took many women to church on the city buses in
Peoria.

memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic
Church of Peoria, Heading Avenue Franciscans
