Obituary
Sharon Lee Denight, beloved mother,
sister, friend, and businesswoman, passed away on
January 27, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on August
7, 1939, to Bernard and Florence (Hartman) Gallion,
Sharon grew up with a deep appreciation for family,
friendship, and service. A longtime resident of
Springfield Township, she made her home at Maple
Knoll, where she was affectionately known as the
"mayor" of her community, always bringing people
together with her warmth and leadership.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
James Paul Denight, and is survived by her son,
Brian Paul Denight, as well as her cherished sister,
Lyn Gallion Houston.
Sharon’s heart extended beyond her immediate family
to include her long-time employees at Palette
Studios—Sarah Humphrey, Jamie Reynolds, and Jason
Prater—who were not only devoted colleagues but the
children of her heart. Together, they formed an
inseparable team, creating a lasting legacy in the
world of custom lighting.
As the owner of Palette Studios, Inc. in East Walnut
Hills for nearly 50 years, Sharon carried on her
husband’s legacy and infused the business with her
own creativity and vision. After Paul’s passing, she
took the helm, ensuring that their store continued
to bring light and beauty to homes across the city.
Her expertise and dedication made Palette Studios,
Inc., a cherished institution in the community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sharon was
deeply involved in civic and social organizations. A
proud and active member of the Cincinnati Woman’s
Club since 1989, she served on the board and chaired
numerous committees, most notably the Interior Décor
Committee. Her passion for historic preservation led
to her work restoring the Music Hall chandeliers,
ensuring their legacy for future generations by
hanging them in the club's auditorium. The CWC was a
treasured part of her life, and she found great joy
in her time there.

Sharon was also a devoted member of
the Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta,
where she held numerous leadership roles and often
hosted gatherings in her home. She was recognized
with both the Order of the Rose (50 years) and the
Order of the Pearl (60 years) for her unwavering
commitment to the organization. She remained
actively involved, hosting the annual Founders’ Day
celebration at the Cincinnati Woman’s Club.
Before moving to Maple Knoll, Sharon
lived in a close-knit community in Springfield
Township, where she formed lifelong friendships. She
was active in the neighborhood women’s club and book
club, as well as fundraising for the local fire
department. A beloved community figure, she proudly
led the Fourth of July parade for many years from
her place of honor atop the fire truck.
Sharon’s legacy is one of warmth, leadership, and an
unyielding dedication to the people and places she
loved. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her
light will continue to shine in the hearts of all
who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6,
2025, from 10:00am until the time of the funeral
service at 11:00am at Spring Grove Funeral Home,
4389 Spring Grove Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45223.
Private interment will be held at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart, IL. Local arrangements have been
entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Memorial contributions may be made to I Am
Global Academy.
