Obituary
Peggy Ellen (Summers) Simpson, 76,
of Broadwell, passed away peacefully on January 28,
2025,
marking the celebration of her 76th year.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry
& Bennett Funeral Home and a celebration of life
will be held at a later date.
Peggy was born on January 28, 1949 in Lincoln, IL,
the daughter of Leola Roy Summers and Mary Dell
(Cisco) Summers. She grew up in Waynesville, IL and
attended MWA (Waynesville, Minier, Armington) High
School. She married Charles William Simpson Sr. in
1969, and moved to Broadwell in 1976 where she
raised her children, instilling the value of hard
work, unwavering loyalty, and most of all love of
family. After retirement, Peggy moved to DeFuniak
Springs Florida, where she loved to quilt and play
cards with many dear friends, until Charles passed
in 2018 after 48 years of marriage.
Peggy was a shining example that it is always better
to give than to receive. She loved caring for
people, and always ensured that everyone had
anything that was needed. She enjoyed quilting and
crafting, but spending time with her family was her
favorite activity. |
