[February 05, 2025]  Lincoln hosted Peoria Notre Dame on Monday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium and despite a terrific effort from the Lady Railers, the Lady Irish came out on top 47-39.

Both teams struggled shooting in the first quarter, with the Lady Irish taking a 9-5 lead early. A three from Mesa McCloud and two free throws from Grace Schneider accounted for the Lincoln scoring.

By halftime Peoria Notre Dame had a 22-15 lead. Makinley Knapp had six points and Lily Holmes added four points as the Lady Irish kept the Lady Railers an arm's length away.

The Lady Irish led by as much as 17 points in the third quarter, ending the eight minutes with a 39-26 lead. The outside shots were not falling for Lincoln and it was tough to get points in the paint against the three six-footers in the Peoria Notre Dame lineup. The largest reaction from the crowd was when Holmes snuck backdoor to collect the pass from Whiteman and she made the layup. Whiteman and Knapp each scored in the paint as the quarter was drawing near a close and this gave the Lady Railers some momentum heading into the fourth quarter.

Lincoln managed to outscore the Lady Irish 13-8 in the fourth quarter. The birthday girl, Mesa McCloud, tossed in her second three of the game and had a layup to go with it, prompting the 10 and under fan section to cheer, “We gonna party like it’s your birthday!” during a timeout. Lincoln pulled to within seven points with 1:25 left in the game, but the Lady Irish denied them to get any closer. Lincoln would not score again in the game and the Lady Irish escaped with a 47-39 victory.

Makinley Knapp led Lincoln with 13 points.

Lincoln falls to 14-11 on the season.
