Murphy’s monster game leads Mount Pulaski past Auburn 67-53

[February 07, 2025]   Alyson Murphy poured in a season-high 36 points as Mount Pulaski took down Auburn 67-53 on Thursday night at home.

 

Murphy had three 3s in the opening quarter and added one more in the fourth. She made 10 two-point field goals in the game and was 4-for-9 from the free throw line.

Murphy had a career high 40 points last year in the regional semifinals. She is just a junior.

Addison Brown added 15 points.

Mount Pulaski led 20-17 after the first quarter. Murphy was good for ten points in the opening quarter and teammates Elayna Marten and Addison Brown each scored five points.

The Lady Toppers didn’t miss a beat in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 38-29. Again Murphy dropped in ten points and Brown and Audrey Cooper added four points.

Auburn slowed Mount Pulaski down a bit in the third quarter and slashed the lead to 47-43.

The Lady Toppers kicked in the afterburners in the fourth quarter and put 20 points up on the board. Murphy and Brown combined for 15 of those 20 points and the Class 2A Trojans boarded the bus for the long ride home, suffering the 67-53 loss.

Mount Pulaski improved to 16-7 on the season.

The Trojans won the JV game 60-14 over Mount Pulaski.
