[February 10, 2025]  The Lincoln Lady Railers were on the road Saturday afternoon to pay a visit to the Decatur Eisenhower Panthers and a nice reward after the 73-22 victory was dinner at Olive Garden. The ladies earned never-ending salad and breadsticks as the JV team picked up a win, too, beating Eisenhower 47-35.

Lincoln had four players in double-figures versus the Panthers.

Piper Whiteman and Mia Clark each had 14 points. Lily Holmes and Grace Schneider each scored 11 points.

Lincoln improved their record to 17-11.

The Panthers fell to 1-23 on the season.

First quarter
Piper Whiteman’s two free throws opened the scoring for Lincoln and then it was Mia Clark with a layup and the 4-0 lead. After the Panthers made a three it looked promising. Lincoln took an 8-3 lead and then the Panthers came back with another three. Maybe this would be a close ballgame after all. Nope. The 8-6 lead escalated in a hurry to 23-6, with all of Lincoln’s starters scoring in the first quarter.

Second quarter
Lincoln shut out the Panthers 22-0 in the second quarter, kinda like the Eagles shutting out the Chiefs in the first half of the Super Bowl. Lily Holmes led the offense with eight points. Holmes and Whiteman each had one three while Clark hit two 3s for Lincoln. The Lady Railers were not wasting any time with a 45-6 halftime lead.

Third quarter

Make it rain 3s again, ladies! Holmes and Schneider each made one here while Mesa McCloud dropped two 3s through the net. By the end of the quarter Lincoln had increased the lead to 50 points. The Panthers were on the fast track to another loss, trailing 65-15.

Fourth quarter
Time to get this over quickly and get ready to chow down on breadsticks. Elizabeth Chen and Rebecca Burge each tossed in four points in the last quarter and Lincoln ran that clock all the way to a 73-22 victory.

[to top of second column]
