Senior Night success: Lady Railers

A win on Senior Night is always sweet.
On Tuesday night the Lady Railers took on the Pioneers of Normal
University High and with Makinley Knapp outscoring the visitors,
Lincoln won the contest 39-21.
Knapp finished her night with 23 points and just three fouls.
Knapp was one of the seniors honored before the game, along with
fellow seniors Piper Whiteman and Rebecca “Reba” Burge. Senior
manager Precious Ehrnreiter was also honored.
With the win the Lady Railers improve to 18-11 overall and 7-3 in
the Central State Eight Conference.
Lincoln started the first quarter by trailing the Pioneers 7-5.
With Knapp scoring the first eight points of the second quarter for
Lincoln, she put her team in front 13-7.
The halftime score was 14-11.
Whiteman and Knapp combined to stretch the lead to 18-13 early in
the third quarter. Lincoln cranked up the defense and held U-High to
four points the rest of the quarter. With Knapp, Clark and Whiteman
taking care of the offense, Lincoln stormed out to a 30-17 lead by
the end of the third. The icing on the cake was the three by Clark
with 27.0 seconds left.

Knapp worked hard in the lane all night long and she poured in seven
more points in the fourth quarter. When Knapp, Whiteman and Burge
exited the game they were given a nice round of applause by the
crowd on hand. There are always a lot of emotions on Senior Night
and these three will be missed tremendously.
Congratulations on the 39-21 win, ladies!
The JV game was won 48-27 by U-High.
Lincoln does have one more home game left this Thursday. The Lady
Railers host Pekin. The JV game will begin at 5:30 p.m. The Varsity
will tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
