			William “Bill” J. Walker, 87, of Waverley, formerly of Lincoln 
			passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Grove Health and 
			Rehab in Jacksonville.  |

							Obituary 
							Waverley- William “Bill” J. Walker, 
							87, of Waverley, formerly of Lincoln passed away on 
							Friday, February 7, 2025 at The Grove Health and 
							Rehab in Jacksonville. 
							 
							Cremation rites have been accorded. 
							 
							A graveside service will be held at a later date at 
							Zion Cemetery in Lincoln. 
							 
							Bill was born on February 11, 1937 in Decatur, 
							Illinois the son of Walter E. and Dorothy (Decker) 
							Walker. 
							 
							He is survived by his stepchildren: Bruce Brown of 
							Pawnee, Brenda Underwood of Lincoln, Brent Brown of 
							Lincoln, Bridget (Bruce) Carroll of Hannibal, Mo. as 
							well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and 
							three great grandchildren. Bill will be missed by 
							all that loved him. 
							 
							He was preceded in death by his son Robert Walker 
							and stepson, Bradley Brown. 
							 
							Bill graduated from the Illinois School for the Deaf 
							in Jacksonville. He retired from Lincoln Development 
							Center after thirty-three years as a technician. 
							 
							Bill journeyed through life, always with a smile on 
							his face and a positive outlook, collecting friends 
							and many people that he considered family along the 
							way. He looked forward holiday and Sunday dinners 
							where he was fondly known as grandpa Bill. He 
							enjoyed traveling, woodworking, gardening and 
							occasionally trying his luck at the slot machine.

							Bill most recently lived in Waverly, 
							Illinois, where he was well known and loved. The 
							close knit community cared for him, always willing 
							to help with anything he needed. He was a member of 
							the Jacksonville Community for the Deaf and enjoyed 
							regular coffee dates with his friends. He attended 
							the ASL services at Hope Church in Springfield. 
							 
							Memorials may be made to the Jacksonville Community 
							Center for the Deaf , 907 W. Superior Avenue 
							Jacksonville, Illinois 62650. 
							 
							Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of 
							arrangements.
