[February 18, 2025]  The Lincoln Community High School Railettes are officially back to back IDTA State Champions in the AA Pom Division!

The Railettes spent this past Saturday in Springfield at the BOS Center for the 2025 Illinois Drill Team Association State Finals.

Their first routine which earned them the State Champion title as well as highest score in the division all day was competed in the Pom Division with the song “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from the movie Mary Poppins. This dance style involves colorful pom work while also creating visual images that complement the audio/visual blend. This routine was choreographed by Brande McCree.

Their second routine of the day was in the Open Pom division set to a fun, upbeat mix where they earned 6th place in a highly stacked division. This category has a heavy emphasis on the Pom work itself with simultaneous sharp precision and dance sequences.

Coach Emily Martinez stated these young ladies have worked so hard this season and that they all collectively had big goals that were met.

“To our knowledge, no other team in school history has won back to back state championships, so it’s fun to be able to bring that honor back to Lincoln and share it with the Railettes.”

Coach Martinez is in her second year of coaching the Railettes after having coached at Lincoln Junior High School for six years previously.
