[February 17, 2025]  NEW HOLLAND - Lyle Boyd Read, 85, of New Holland, IL, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation:  Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Fricke- Calvert Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  Thursday, February 13, 2025, 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Obituary

Lyle Boyd Read, 85, of New Holland, IL, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lyle was born June 26, 1939, in Lincoln, IL the son of Boyd & Catharine (Mahler) Read. He married Phillis Martin on September 2, 1961; she survives.

Lyle is survived by his brother, John (Merilee) Read; his children, Mark (Jodi Becker) Read, Mary (Andy) Sager, Amy (Jeff) Jones, Charley (Natalie) Read, Andy (Jennifer) Read, John (Heidi) Hopkins; his 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Nancy Read.

Lyle Attended Murray State University, graduating in May of 1967. He taught for many years at Northwest School in Lincoln. After retiring he took pride in tutoring at Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL.

 

A service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Fricke- Calvert Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial to follow the service at Kline Cemetery in Elkhart, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lyle’s name to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
