Lady Railers squeak by Limestone 49-47 in regional opener

[February 19, 2025]  The Lincoln Lady Railers are advancing to the regional championship after their 49-47 win over the Limestone Rockets on Tuesday night in the Class 3A Regional at Peoria High School.

The Lady Railers took a 7-0 lead to start the game and finished the first quarter on top 11-9.

By halftime Lincoln was down 22-20.

At the end of the third quarter the Lady Railers were down 33-32.

Mesa McCloud tied the game on a three immediately into the fourth quarter action. Makinley Knapp then put the Lady Railers in the lead for good. Lincoln was up 48-44 with less than a minute to play. A three by Hannah West trimmed the lead to 48-47. Mia Clark’s free throw with 26.0 seconds left would end up being the final basket of the game. The Rockets had two opportunities to score in the final seconds but couldn’t deliver.

Lincoln managed to hang on for the 49-47 win.

The Lady Railers were led in scoring by Grace Schneider and Makinley Knapp, who each had 12 points. Mesa McCloud contributed 11 points.

Lincoln improved to 19-12 on the season.

The Lady Railers will meet Morton on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. for the regional championship back at Peoria High School.
