Mount Pulaski beat in regional final 49-47

[February 21, 2025]  Mount Pulaski’s season came to an end on Thursday night as the Lady Toppers suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Roanoke-Benson Rockets 49-47 in the Roanoke-Benson Class 1A Regional. 

 

The Lady Toppers led nearly the entire game, but got beat by a layup in the final seconds of the game. Tough loss.

Mount Pulaski took a 12-7 lead in the first quarter as Addison Brown drained two 3s.

Brown sank three more 3s in the second quarter and with Alyson Murphy scoring five points the Lady Toppers held a 26-21 lead at the half.

Murphy and Elayna Marten combined to guide Mount Pulaski to a 35-32 lead as the third quarter closed.

With around twenty seconds left in the game, Roanoke-Benson tied it on a three, 47-47 the score. A Mount Pulaski turnover allowed the Rockets to score the game-winning basket on a layup.

Bri Harms led the Rockets with 29 points. The junior scored 14 of her team’s 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Alyson Murphy led Mount Pulaski with 23 points.

Addison Brown added 15 points.

Mount Pulaski finished the season with a 20-8 record.

The Rockets improved to 27-5.
