SPRINGFIELD - Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 6 has activated the
Emergency Snow Plan.
At this time, all motorists are urged not to travel unless it is
absolutely necessary due to hazardous road and visibility
conditions.
A "No Tow" order is in effect. All disabled vehicles that are
not presenting an immediate hazard will be left on the side of
the road/ditches until conditions are safe to remove the
vehicle. Due to weather forecasts, conditions may not improve
until Monday, so we may not be able to begin recovering vehicles
until then.
Stranded motorists will be transported off of the roadway to a safe
location.

SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER.
During winter storms, even the speed limit can be too fast.
Lower driving speeds and leave space between yourself and other
vehicles. If you see an emergency vehicle, or a vehicle pulled
over with its emergency flashers activated, slow down and move
over if you are able to.
Only Personal Injury/Significant crashes will be completed
while the Emergency Snow Plan is active. Drivable property
damage crashes can be filed at a later time.
Single-vehicle, non-injury crash reports that occurred on
interstate highways or Illinois Sate Routes normally under the
jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police should file their
crash report online. If you're crash that does not meet this
criteria, please contact law enforcement to make a report.
