							Obituary

							Barton Samuel Tschantz, 51, of
Decatur, IL, formerly of Mt. Pulaski, IL, sadly
passed away on December 23, 2024, at his mother’s
home after a heroic fight against cancer. With a
true warrior’s spirit, he continued to hunt and fish
with family and friends until the very end. He
leaves behind a grieving family who will remember
his laugh, smile, loving heart, and joking nature.

Bart was born April 1, 1973, in Decatur, IL, to
Jerry Tschantz and Julie Hicklin. He graduated from
							Mt. Pulaski High School.

Bart was an extraordinary wood carver whose artistry
reflected his deep connection to the natural world.
An avid outdoorsman, he found joy and purpose in
hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. His biggest
delight was doing these activities with his dearest
family and friends. A very proud uncle he enjoyed
spending time with his nieces and nephews. Some of
his happiest moments were spent in the company of
his beloved dogs—Rocky, Aya, and Tschantzy—who were
his constant companions and cherished friends.

Known for his generous spirit, Bart was a special
friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand
to those in need. His kindness and love of life left
a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents, Julie Hicklin Buckner
and Jerry and Kathy Tschantz; his grandmother,
Georganna Tschantz; his brothers, Rex (Bethany)
Tschantz, Griffin (Sallie) Tschantz, and Cody
Tschantz; his sisters, Cassie Buckner and Haley
Buckner; his nieces and nephews—Owen, Malachi,
Scout, Deegan, Beau, Kingston, Brena, and Rubi and
great niece, Aiyla. He is also remembered with love
by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Bart was preceded in death by his grandfather Gordon
Hicklin, his grandparents Jerry and Carolyn Malloy,
and his grandfather James Tschantz. |
