Each year in January, Lincoln Daily News takes a look back at the year that was in both articles and photos.

The year is divided into quarters with staff Karen Castelein, Devyn Fry, Chassidy White and Jeff Wyles being asked to choose their favorite pictures for one quarter of the year.

Not only does this divide the responsibility but it also allows our staff to show readers what they find interesting on a personal level.

The first quarter of 2024 was designated to Devyn who chose her favorite 10 photos from January through the end of March.

Devyn loves animals, so it is no wonder that six of her ten photos had something to do with animals in some shape or form.
 

01/08/2024 - At the Tuesday, January 2nd meeting of the Lincoln City Council, aldermen were introduced to Diesel, the Lincoln Police Department’s newest K-9 Officer. Diesel and his handler Officer Chris Phillips spent several minutes in the city council chambers.

02/07/2024 - On Sunday, the community found that the Free Family Bowling event that had been held annually prior to the Coronavirus Pandemic has been revived.

There were several families who came to enjoy a time together with a fun activity. The event was sponsored by the Lincoln Memorial Community Health Collaborative, Crimestoppers, and the Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care.

02/20/2024 - On Monday morning, Nick Bekteshi, accompanied by family and Atlanta city officials snipped the ribbon in celebration of the newly remodeled Country Aire Restaurant.

The restaurant officially re-opened Monday after several weeks of being shut down for the remodel. Guests who were familiar with the old look were happily stunned by the new “light, bright, and airy” look and feel of the popular eatery.
