Lincoln falls to Limestone 48-45

[January 08, 2025]  The Lady Railers were on the road Monday night at Bartonville taking on the Limestone Rockets. It was a game that went back and forth, with the Rockets prevailing in the end 48-45.

Lincoln took a 12-10 first quarter lead, guided offensively by Lily Holmes, Mia Clark and Makinley Knapp.

Mesa McCloud hit two 3s back-to-back in the second quarter and things were looking good for Lincoln with a 20-14 lead. Things headed south quickly with the Rockets going on a 10-1 run to end the quarter with a 24-21 lead.

The two teams exchanged leads in the third quarter and when the eight minutes ended, Lincoln was on top 37-36.

Lincoln was able to hold a slim lead early in the fourth quarter until the Rockets went ahead 43-41 near the four minute mark. With a minute left in the game, Clark tied the game at the free throw line. The Rockets took the next lead on a three-pointer. Knapp’s two-point field goal made the score 46-45 and Lincoln never scored after that. The Rockets secured the win at the free throw line, going ahead 48-45 in the final seconds. A last-second shot attempt by McCloud failed and Lincoln suffered the tough loss.

Makinley Knapp led the Lady Railers with 17 points and Mia Clark added 12 points.

In the JV game, Limestone defeated Lincoln 44-28. Grey Gilbert led Lincoln with 10 points.

Lincoln falls to 8-7 on the season.

The Lady Railers travel to Pleasant Plains on Thursday night for a JV game at 6:00 p.m. and a Varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

Lincoln will host Chatham Glenwood on Saturday. The JV game will start at 11 a.m. and the Varsity will tip-off at 12:30 p.m.
