[January 13, 2025]  Springfield, IL -- Springfield Call 2 Action is organizing its third Community Involvement Fair at the Lincoln Library in downtown Springfield on Saturday, January 25th. People from the greater Springfield area are invited to attend and connect with community organizations that advocate for a progressive, inclusive community through service and action.

“Many people are feeling worried and helpless about the state of the country and civil society today. We’re hosting this event to help people learn about and volunteer with groups that take action to make Springfield a stronger, safer community for everyone here,” says Sunshine Clemmons, co-President of Springfield Black Lives Matter.

Organizations participating in the event include: Springfield Immigrant Advocacy Network (SIAN), Planned Parenthood Illinois, Black Lives Matter SPI, the Sierra Club, Intricate Minds, Springfield Families 4 Ceasefire, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Girl Scouts, the League of Women Voters, Third Act Living, Junior League of Springfield, Enos Park Neighborhood Garden, St. Martin de Porres, Democratic Socialists of America, Illinois Eagle, Poor People’s Campaign, and Sustainable Springfield.

“People who attend will learn about dozens of groups that need volunteers to help our community in a variety of ways. You don’t have to commit a lot of time to make a difference,” says Don Hanrahan, President of the Springfield chapter of the ACLU. “Every little bit helps.”
